Meeting Announcement

The LTSC will hold Working Group and Study Group meetings on Sunday, November 5, at the Coronado Springs Resort in Walt Disney World (Orlando, Florida). The meeting is being hosted by the Learning 2006 conference (www.learning2006.com), and all travel arrangements should be made using the information provided on the Learning 2006 site.

NOTE: All LTSC members are invited to attend Learning 2006. We have been given a group code that will result in a registration discount.

About this Meeting

This meeting will focus on the future, on connecting with the user community and on collaborating with global standardization efforts. This is an appropriate time and place to engage in this discussion. The LTSC has completed all of the standards projects that were in the pipeline two years ago, with the expectation that the last one (RCD) will be submitted for final IEEE approval by the end of the year. Meanwhile, new requirements are being addressed by a variety of consortia and industry groups, underlying ICT infrastructure has evolved considerably, and opportunities for global collaboration are increasing. The Learning 2006 theme of "learning in a flat world" is very appropriate to our own situation, and we are fortunate to have the opportunity to take a bit of a breather and seriously discuss where and how we want to go next.
